Host families are looking for a reliable person to help them with taking care of their children. Depending on the needs of the host family, Au Pairs provide help with general child care, like supervising children and assisting with housework related to the children. Specific tasks might include: playing with younger children, bathing/ dressing the children and preparing simple meals for them, driving the older children to and from school as well as to after school activities. By living with the Au Pair the host families’ children develop a broader awareness of people from other countries. Host families benefit from the flexible in house child care. The Au Pair and the host family have the opportunity to develop a relationship of understanding and support, much more than just employer- employee.
